We invite you to attend the lecture, “An Archaeological Study of Mining Settlements During the Early Islamic Period: Southwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” presented by Dr. Abdullah bin Ali bin Ubadi Al-Zahrani.
The lecture will discuss early Islamic mining settlements in southwest Saudi Arabia, their economic role in the Caliphate, their decline with the Abbasid era, and the challenges of preserving their archaeological remains today.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Zahrani, Saudi archaeologist and Shura Council member, studied early Islamic mining settlements in southwest Saudi Arabia. His research shows they were central to the Caliphate’s economy and trade, declined after the Abbasid era, and still face preservation risks today.
