Description

Date: Monday, 19 January Time: 7 pm - Amricani Cultural Centre Language: Arabic We invite you to attend the lecture, “The Arabian Peninsula Before Islam and the ‘Qualities of the Arabs’”, presented by Najia Al-Wraimi. This presentation calls for a re-examination of prevailing views of the Arabian Peninsula before Islam, showing that the success of the Islamic message was not separate from the values, qualities, forms of organization, and economic conditions that already existed among the Arabs, which paved the way for its emergence and spread, as noted by historians such as Ibn Khaldun. Professor Najia Al-Wraimi is a professor of higher education at the University of Tunis El Manar, specializing in Arab-Islamic civilization, and a member of the Tunisian Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts “Beit al-Hikma,” as well as of Arab and European research institutions. She has held two research residencies in France (the Sorbonne and EPHE). She has published many books and studies, the most recent of which are: The Constitution of Medina: A Marginalized Islam (Egypt, 2025) and Tolerance in Arab Culture: A Critical Study (Beirut, 2018).
