Description
ACT Media Production Presents ANTIGONE by Jean Anouilh after Sophocles Antigone by Sophocles is a timeless tragedy that explores the clash between personal conscience and state law. After a devastating civil war, the new ruler, Creon, decrees that one of the fallen brothers must remain unburied as punishment for treason. Antigone, their sister, defies this order, believing that moral duty and human dignity stand above political authority. In Jean Anouilh’s modern adaptation, the ancient myth is stripped to its emotional core, transforming the story into a stark confrontation between youthful idealism and political pragmatism. As Antigone chooses truth over survival, the play raises urgent questions about obedience, resistance, and the cost of saying no. Powerful, intimate, and unsettling, Antigone remains one of the most relevant tragedies ever written — a story of courage in the face of impossible choices. The production is directed by Hamad Al Jenaie, with Susanna Miller starring in the role of Antigone, alongside Daniel Tesdale, Mariam Al Majed, Essa Haitham, Yousef Al Kharraz, and Noor El Khafrawy. The performance takes place at The Mousetrap Theatre, NES, Jabriya.
