Description
Born in Lebanon in 1962, Camille Zakharia graduated from the American University of Beirut in 1985 before leaving Lebanon during the civil war. For over four decades, his photography has explored identity, memory, and transformation through landscapes and communities across the Middle East. His projects range from documenting Beirut’s war-scarred buildings and Sharjah’s urban changes to Oman’s ties with nature, Bahrain’s reclaimed coastlines, and Saudi typologies reminiscent of Al Qatt art. Zakharia has exhibited internationally, including Fotofest, Venice, Sharjah, and Diriyah Art Biennales, with works held in major public and private collections worldwide, including LACMA, V&A Museum, and Canadian Museum of Civilization.
