Description
You are invited to join the discussion of our second Book Club selection at Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre: “Dopamine Nation: Finding Balance in an Age of Indulgence” by Dr. Anna Lembke, translated into Arabic by Dr. Alia Al-Omari.
The book explores how dopamine, the neurotransmitter responsible for pleasure and reward, shapes our behavior in a world filled with fast-stimulating rewards such as social media, processed foods, and more. It reveals how excessive exposure to these sources of instant pleasure can disrupt the brain’s balance between reward and pain, increasing vulnerability to addiction, anxiety, and depression.
📌 The discussion will be held in Arabic, but non-Arabic speakers who have read the book are welcome to share their reflections in English.
