Join us on Sunday nights over the next 4 weeks at our studio in Argan Bedaya for a set of FREE, hands-on, Theatre Tech workshops for those interested in learning setup and operation of theatre lights and sound equipment. Workshops run from 7:30 - 9pm in Studio 2.
Oct 19th 🎚️ EVENT SOUND 1 — Getting Connected: The Basics of Theatre Sound Setup
Learn how to bring your sound system to life — from plugging in the right cables to understanding what each piece of equipment actually does. This hands-on beginner session walks you through mixers, microphones, speakers, and signal flow so you can confidently set up a working sound rig for your next rehearsal or show. Perfect for anyone who’s ever wondered, “Which lead goes where?”
Oct 26th 🎛️ EVENT SOUND 2 — Tuning, EQ & Mixing for Live Performance
Step up from setup to soundcraft. In this practical follow-on session, you’ll learn how to fine-tune your system, balance EQ for clarity, run a proper sound check, and manage live mixing during a show. We’ll demystify faders, gain, monitors, and effects — giving you the skills to create a clean, confident mix that supports your performers instead of fighting them.
Nov 2nd💡 EVENT LIGHTS 1 — Plug In & Power Up: The Essentials of Stage Lighting Setup
This beginner-friendly workshop introduces you to the gear that makes theatre shine. We’ll cover basic lighting fixtures, power and data cabling, DMX control, and how to safely rig and test your setup. By the end, you’ll understand how lights “talk” to the board and how to get from a dark stage to a simple working wash of light.
Nov 9th 🎨 EVENT LIGHTS 2 — Painting with Light: Design & Show Operation
Now that you can wire it — learn how to work it. This creative follow-up focuses on designing effective stage looks, cue building, and running a show smoothly from the lighting desk. You’ll explore colour, focus, and movement, discovering how lighting transforms mood, focus, and storytelling on stage — all using accessible tools and techniques you can apply in your own theatre.
Perfect for community volunteers who want to get involved in show tech, or drama teachers looking to understand their equipment.
