Songs of Kuwaiti Weddings - عُرس الكويت

We welcome the week of National Day holidays with a special evening at the Amphitheatre, on February 20th, featuring the renowned artist Suleiman Al-Qassar and his folk band. The event, titled “Songs of Kuwaiti Weddings”, highlights an important aspect of local heritage. Together, we will immerse ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere of Kuwaiti weddings, enriched by traditional songs and melodies. The beloved singer Talal Al-Saidalani will also participate in this memorable event.

For over 40 years, Suleiman Al-Qassar has gained widespread popularity for reviving wedding celebrations across Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and most of the Gulf countries. He has been dedicated to preserving and enriching traditional wedding music. During his travels, he drew inspiration from Bahrain’s “Al-Dazza”, which he adapted by quickening its rhythm and refining its lyrics. He also incorporated Kuwait’s Bedouin rythms, “Al-Biddawi,” into the “Al-Dazza” repertoire, transforming them into beloved wedding tunes. With a rich collection of these songs and more, the evening promises to be a delightful celebration of tradition and music.

نلتقي في مستهل عطلة الأعياد الوطنية مع الفنانَ سليمان القصار وفرقته الشعبية في حفل «عرس الكويت»، الذي يستضيفه المسرح المفتوح في 20 فبراير، لنعيش أجواء الأعراس الكويتية بأغانيها وخصوصًا التراثية. يشارك في الحفل الفنان المحبوب طلال الصيدلاني.

طَوالَ 40 عامًا اشتهر الفنان سليمان القصار بإحيائه حفلات الأعراس في الكويت والبحرين والسعودية ومعظم دول الخليج. ولكن قد لا يعرف كثيرون أن القصار حرص على تقديم التراث الشعبي مستهدفًا إثراءَ فنون الأعراس، بعدما استوحى خلال جولاته فن «الدزَّة» من البحرين، فنقله وسرَّع الإيقاع واعتنى بتعديل الكلمات، ثم أخذ من أغاني البادية في الكويت «البدّاوي» واجتهد في تحويلها لتصبح من أغاني الدزَّة. ومع باقة من تلك الأغاني وغيرها نقضي سهرة ممتعة.
