The Earth’s Horizon - محيط الأرض

To mark Kuwait’s designation as the Arab Media Capital and the Arab Culture Capital 2025, the National Theatre will host the epic historical production “The Earth’s Horizon” from 14–17 February as part of the official launch celebrations. Produced by the Ministry of Information, the show spans 300 years of Kuwait’s legacy of leadership and prosperity, highlighting its historical significance in trade and its role in the exchange of knowledge and ideas.

Presented as a visual fantasy, the production brings to life the late Kuwaiti astronomer Saleh Al-Ojairi, who reads the stars over Kuwait to recount key historical events. Through musical, dramatic, and choreographed tableaux, the performance explores the contributions of Arabs to astronomy and the prominent figures who shaped Kuwait’s thriving trade industry. It also reflects on how foreign travellers once referred to Kuwait as the “Marseille of the East,” acknowledging its strategic location. The show further traces Kuwait’s pursuit of knowledge and concludes with a dramatic portrayal of its vision for the future.

Under the direction of acclaimed theatre director Abdullah Abdulrasoul, “The Earth’s Horizon” features a distinguished cast of actors and singers from Kuwait and the Arab world, alongside performance groups and dance ensembles. The production blends theatre and music with advanced audiovisual effects and modern technologies, offering an immersive experience that seamlessly moves through history while honouring the essence of each era and Kuwait’s aspirations for the future.

بمناسبة إطلاق فعاليات الاحتفال باختيار الكويت عاصمةً للإعلام العربي وعاصمة للثقافة العربية للعام 2025، يستضيف المسرح الوطني من 14-17 فبراير، العرضَ المسرحي التاريخي الملحمي الغنائي «محيط الأرض»، من إنتاج وزارة الإعلام، الذي يتناول 300 عام من الريادة والازدهار، ومكانة الكويت التجارية التاريخية الواسعة ودورها الرائد في تناقل المعرفة والأفكار.

يُقدَّم العرضُ في صورة فانتازيا بصرية تستعيد حضور الفلكي الكويتي العظيم صالح العجيري، الذي يستقرئ نجوم سماء الكويت ليسرد أحداث الزمن. ومن خلال لوحاتٍ درامية غنائية استعراضية ننتقل من الإسهامات الكبيرة للمسلمين والعرب في تدوين علم الفلك، إلى أهم الشخصيات التي كان لها الدور الكبير في ازدهار حركة التجارة في الكويت، وكيف رآها الرحالة الأجانب حيث كانوا يصفون الكويت بـ «مرسيليا الشرق» تقديرًا لموقعها الجغرافي المتميز. وتنتقل لاحقًا إلى رحلتها نحو المعرفة، ثم يُختتَم العرض بمحاكاة درامية تكشف رؤية الكويت نحو المستقبل. يشارك في العرض، الذي يتولى إخراجَه المخرجُ المسرحي عبدالله عبدالرسول، نخبةٌ من نجوم التمثيل والغناء من الكويت والوطن العربي، إضافةً إلى المجاميع الأدائية والفرق الاستعراضية.

يمزج العرض عديدًا من عناصر الإبهار الفني، تجمع بين فنون المسرح والموسيقى مع المؤثرات السمعية والبصرية والتقنيات الحديثة، ليقدم تجربة درامية تعبر عن الأحداث التاريخية وتتنقل عبر الزمن بين مشاهده وفصوله، مع الحفاظ على خصوصية كل مرحلة عبر إشارات ودلالات تعكس روح التاريخ وتستشرف المستقبل.
